Welcome to Arulmigu Palaniandavar College of Arts and Culture
Arulmigu Palaniandavar Arts College was founded by Arulmigu Dhandayuthapaniswami Thirukoil, Palani, in 1963. The birth of this institution marked not only the fulfillment of a long felt need but also a great step forward in the upliftment of the educational status of this part of Dindigul District. Thanks to the remarkable zeal evinced by the Trustees of the Thirukoil and the high moral support extended to them by the then Chief Minister, Thiru. M .Bakthavachalam, as well as, by the outstanding educationists like Dr.A.Lakshmanasamy Mudaliar and Rao Sahib Captain Dr. D.Sivasubramania Mudaliar. The College took shape much faster than expected and within a year it became a full - fledged First Grade College affiliated to Madras University. The College was affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University in 1969. The institution has now come into its own as a First Grade College of mighty proportions. The College offers UG Degree Course in eleven disciplines and PG Degree course in ten disciplines along with M.Phil. and Ph.D. Research Programmes in a few disciplines.
The College is housed in the imposing building that stands on the Dindigul Road set against a sylvan background and overlooked by the sacred Palani Hills. Standing right at the feet of the God Palaniandavar, this temple of learning has drawn over 2700 votaries opting for various courses of study. Juxtaposed with the main buildings of the college stand the no less imposing hostel buildings. Arulmigu Palaniandavar College of Indian Culture was merged with Arulmigu Palaniandavar Arts College in 1981-82 and the institution was renamed as Arulmigu Palaniandavar College of Arts & Culture. We are confident that the day is not very far off when the entire terrain in and around Sivagiripatti will be converted into a great centre of learning, almost a Shantinketan of the South. We are sure that the institution and the new Managing Body headed by The Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Deparment, Chennai - 600034, Joint Commissioner / Executive Officer, Arulmigu Dhandayuthapaniswami, Thirukkoil, Palani, as Correspondent, Deputy Commissioner, Arulmigu Dhandayuthapaniswami, Thirukkoil, Palani, as Secretary, will strive to make that dream a reality.
The College is run by Arulmigu Dhandayuthapaniswami Thirukoil under the guidance of the H.R. &C.E. Department, Chennai, and is naturally committed to certain ideals and principles which are in tune with the greatest traditions of Indian life and culture. We believe in and follow a pattern of curricular activities which is inseparably bound up with the pattern of values and traditions symbolized by the great temple of sacred palani Hills. The College begins with a prayer in praise of LORD MURUGA broadcasted over a network of microphone speakers throughout the college premises. We begin our day with hands raised in BAKTHI reminding ourselves of the temple over the hill and invoking his blessings in all our humble efforts to serve humanity. Everyone who walks into the portals of this institution is called upon to identify himself/herself with the way of life symbolized by the prayer.
Our college has a vision to enrich, uplift, and to cater to the needs of the socially and economically backward students. With an increased demand for certain aided courses like Tamil, English, Maths etc., the management has introduced new courses in Self Financing stream.
